Hathaway Moving In Guidelines
Utilities
During your residency at Edgewood and Meadow Ridge Apartments, you will be responsible for the payment of gas and electric utilities. During your residency at Maplewood Square Apartments, you will be responsible for the payment of electric utilities.
To set up service, please contact the utility companies at least one week prior to moving into your new home. You will need to provide the utility companies with your new address and date of occupancy. The utility service will be transferred into your name on the commencement date of your lease. You may reach the electric and gas companies at the following phone number or visit their Web site.
- Consumers Energy: 1-800-477-5050 - www.consumersenergy.com
- Michcon (DTE Energy): 1-800-477-4747 - www.michcon.com
Telephone Service
Your new home will have telephone jacks located in the kitchen, living room, and each bedroom. We will cover the cost to repair a telephone wire from the building’s telephone interface box to the telephone jacks that were originally installed inside the home. We cannot cover expenses to repair jacks installed by prior residents or the cost to transfer telephone service to or from auxiliary telephone lines.
To protect you from the cost of telephone line repairs, we recommend the line backer maintenance option available when you order telephone service. To set up local telephone service, call the following number or visit their web site.
- Ameritech (SBC): 1-800-244-4444 - www.ameritech.com
Cable Television
We do not provide a master antenna on the building. If you do not wish to have cable service, it may be necessary to install a portable antenna on your television set. Should you choose to have cable television, please call:
- Charter Communications: 1-800-545-0994
In accordance with the Over-the-Air Reception Device Rule, you may not install, use and maintain a video antenna (satellite dish) within your leasehold to receive video programming signals from direct broadcast satellites [DBS] and multi-channel multi-point distribution (wireless cable) providers [MMDS]. The rule applies to rental property where the Lessee has exclusive use. “Exclusive Use” means an area of property that only you and the persons you permit may enter and use to the exclusion of other Residents and visitors. The rule does not apply to common areas such as turf, plant beds, walkways or front porches. Please contact Hathaway Properties to obtain our consent to install a video antenna within the restricted limits:
- - Placement of antenna can only be on balcony or patio. You cannot mount the antenna to any part of the building including windows, separating walls, support columns, etc...
- - No portion of the antenna, including wire, can be bored into or attached onto an exterior wall or casing of a window or sliding glass door; nor can wire be left exposed over the siding or in the common areas.
- - Antennas cannot be placed on the roof or be extended above the roof line.
